Our collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces continues to flourish.

After extensive meetings, we’re deep into the design process for the Great Fountain Garden at Hampton Court Palace.

Our dedicated team is working diligently to craft a sustainable blueprint that honours the site’s 17th-century origins while embracing modern ecological principles—transforming a historic landscape into a vibrant, future-focused garden sanctuary.

We’re thrilled to be part of the British Library’s groundbreaking ‘Gardens of the Future’ exhibition, launching May 2025.

As one of twelve international designers selected for this visionary project, we’re crafting a future-focused family garden design that reimagines outdoor spaces for the next 50 years.

Our contribution will explore how gardens can adapt to climate change while fostering family connections and wellbeing, featured in both the exhibition’s companion book and the King’s Library Tower gallery display.

How on earth could we do a recap of this year and fail to mention our studio’s return to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show! Not only did we create a main avenue garden, but we also won the inaugural Children’s Choice Award AND… BBC People’s Choice Award!

We’ll be candid – it took over a year of intense dedication, but every moment was worth it. Those sleepless nights, pre-dawn starts, and gruelling days culminated in our RHS Silver-Gilt Medal. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to the design, build, plant supply and planting, and to every visitor who chose our garden as their favourite.

The Octavia Hill Garden by Blue Diamond with the National Trust championed a cause fundamental to our studio’s mission: equal access to nature. In today’s Britain, approximately 1 in 3 people lack accessible nature-rich spaces near their homes, with this gap widening dramatically in deprived areas – a critical challenge that inspired and shaped every aspect of our garden.

Looking at the bigger picture, the UK stands as one of the world’s most nature-depleted nations. The statistics tell a sobering story: between 2004 and 2021, insect populations plummeted by 59%, nearly a quarter of bird species declined, and over a quarter of mammals now face extinction.

The inspiration behind our Chelsea garden, Octavia Hill, confronted similar challenges more than a century ago. “Clever, brave, and resolute, Octavia Hill worked tirelessly for over 50 years towards her vision of a socially inclusive society ‘for ever, for everyone’.” As one of the National Trust’s founders, she was a visionary social reformer whose ideas still resonate powerfully today.

We hope our garden would have earned Octavia’s approval, as her philosophy continues to guide our studio’s work and ethics. Her words remain our inspiration:

“ We all want quiet,

We all want beauty,

We all need space. ”
