The wonderful response to our Hampton Court Palace appointment has been quite overwhelming. From The Sunday Telegraph coverage to features in specialist horticultural publications.

It’s clear that this project has captured imaginations far beyond the garden design world. As the studio completes the design phase of this exciting collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces, we wanted to share some insights into how the project is being approached.

The Sustainable Vision Taking Shape

The design principles being developed centre around creating what Ann-Marie likes to call ‘bold, beautiful, biodiverse’. Gardens that are not only stunning to behold but actively contribute to environmental health. The approach moves away from the traditional reliance on annual bedding schemes towards a more sustainable method that celebrates the natural rhythms of growth and renewal.

The planting plan focuses on robust perennials that will provide structure and interest across all seasons. Complemented by carefully chosen shrubs that offer habitat for wildlife whilst reducing maintenance needs. The bulb schemes being planned will create those heart-stopping moments of seasonal drama. Creating a tapestry that changes subtly year after year.

An Invitation to Grow Together

This project represents everything Ann-Marie Powell Gardens believes garden design should achieve – creating spaces that nurture both people and planet. The media attention has shown just how much this resonates those interested not just in heritage, but our environmental future too.

More details will be shared as the design progresses to planting stages, and ultimately, when visitors will be welcomed to experience this historic garden’s next chapter.
